History

Father Lopez Catholic School was built in 1959 by the Diocese of St. Augustine. As the school’s popularity grew, the Diocese of Orlando formed, and oversight of the schools extended to Father Lopez Catholic School. With the original teaching staff consisting of Diocesan priests and sisters, FLCS now has a fantastic team of dedicated teachers to guide students.

Academics

Our academic program includes 15 Advanced Placement courses, four college dual enrollment courses, and 29 honors level courses, as well as several academic honor societies. Students are honored as unique children of God and receive individualized instruction based on their talents and gifts. They are challenged to explore the world, embrace their God-given talents, and make the world a better place. 

Graduation

By the time FLCS students graduate, they have completed a comprehensive college preparatory curriculum. Due to our research-based teaching practices, students graduate with superior skills in communication, critical thinking, and problem solving. In our senior classes, almost every student goes on to pursue higher education.

Clubs and Organizations

With extracurricular clubs and activities, students can personalize their education and develop their passions. We offer academic societies such as Mu Alpha Theta and National Honor Society, and our clubs include the Entrepreneurship Club, the Green Wave 4-H Club, and the Global Exploration Club. We believe students learn just as much by exploring their interests as they do in the classroom. 

Community Service

We encourage our students to remain civically engaged throughout the school year. Students participate in an array of projects to serve the Volusia County community. Starting community service at a young age fosters a sense of awareness for the needs of others. We strive to develop the whole person, educating students about the world around them as well as their academic subjects.
