Meet Father Lopez’s new principal, Pat La Morte

hs lamorteFather Lopez’s new principal, Pat La Morte, will bring renewed school spirit and a revamped curriculum for 2015-16 school year. With several years of experience in education and student technology programs, he is excited to continue Father Lopez’s tradition of excellence.

As principal, Mr. La Morte plans on enhancing school spirit by adding elements to the campus that will bring students and families together.

He will also organize the curriculum to build a STREAM program that aligns with local and national universities. He believes re-working the curriculum and offering dual enrollment will help students with long-term goals.

“Increasing the rigor and relevance of coursework will provide opportunities for students to become college- and career-ready,” he said.

Previously, Mr. La Morte spent four years serving as the Assistant Principal for Curriculum, Technology and Professional Development at Bishop Moore Catholic High School. He played a key role in launching award-winning technology programs.

Additionally, he advised several Diocese of Orlando schools, including Father Lopez, on how to re-design classrooms and media centers to integrate more technology.

He will bring his expertise to Father Lopez’s Innovation Center, a technology lab that is the hub of the school’s active-learning campus. The center has two state-of-the-art TEAL Centers (Technology Enabled Active Learning) and will grow based on students’ interests.

Mr. La Morte has felt welcomed by the Volusia Catholic community.

“Father Lopez is a Christ-centered school and an open community where we encourage the very best out of each other,” he said. “It feels like you are part of a huge family.”
